DARIAH is an ERIC, a pan-european infrastructure for arts and humanities scholars working with computational methods. It supports digital research as well as the teaching of digital research methods.

How does DARIAH work?
DARIAH is a network. It connects several hundreds of scholars and dozens of research facilities in currently 17 european countries, the DARIAH member countries. In addition DARIAH has several cooperating partner institutions in countries not being a member of DARIAH, and strong ties to many research projects across Europe. People in DARIAH provide digital tools and share data as well as know-how. They organize learning opportunities for digital research methods, like workshops and summer schools, and offer training materials for Digital Humanities.

Working groups
The DARIAH community also works together in working groups, with subjects ranging from the assessment of digital tools to the development of standards and the long term accessibility of research materials. Their activities may vary but they all share one common goal: Providing services to scholars in the arts and humanities and therefore helping to do research at its best.

Danube Circle's Association

The Danube Circle Association was a non-governmental organization founded in opposition to the governmental project of constructing a system of dams near Nagymaros (Hungary) in the 1980s. The Danube Circle movement tried to prevent the construction of the dam with samizdats, public debates, and protests. The Circle was one of the new types of alternative movements, which expanded the “traditional” intellectual opposition’s base.

Department of Lithuanian Communist party documents, the branch of Lithuanian Special Archive

The Archive of Lithuanian Communist Party Documents was established in 2001, after the reorganisation of the Archive of Lithuanian Social Organisations. After 2001, the Archive of Lithuanian Communist Party Documents became a subdivision of the Lithuanian Special Archive. The Lithuanian Special Archive was established in 1995. Now the Lithuanian Special Archive has two more subdivisions: KGB documents and Ministry of Interior documents.

The Department of Lithuanian Communist Party Documents has no independent networking. In 2015 the Lithuanian Special Archive cooperated with archives in Israel (Yad Vashem) and the USA (Hoover Institute).

Deák Ferenc branch library of Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library (Fővárosi Szabó Ervin Könyvtár, FSZEK)

The branch library, Deák Ferenc Library operates in Rottenbiller Street 10. This institute became a special venue of cultural opposition in the mid-1970s. Two librarians, Péter Hont and Károly Kály-Kullai, established the first semi-legal Hungarian popular music collection here.

The predecessor of the library was founded by the Deák Ferenc Masonic lodge in 1913 on Almássy Square. This was the first public library in Budapest. Because of lack of storage space, the institution was moved to Rottenbiller Street in the 1950s. According to Kály-Kullai, given its origins, the library had both a legendary and independent identity within the municipal library network. The library was closed between 1982 and 1986 because of renovation work. When it reopened, the pop music collection already existed.

District of Zagreb Public Prosecutor’s Office

The Zagreb District Public Prosecutor's Office fell under the auspices of the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Socialist Republic of Croatia from 1945 to 1990. It acted as a public prosecution authority in the City of Zagreb during the era of socialism in Croatia.
