The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland is a governmental institution composed of the immediate staff of the President of Poland that assists and is governed by the President. It was instituted in 1989 as a part of legal and political changes in Poland after the fall of Communism. The objective of the Chancellery is to provide assistance to the President in his actions. The Chancellery got involved in creating the Archives of Transition in 2009-2010, when the president (he himself coming from the anti-communist dissident environment) considered preserving the history of the democratic opposition and socio-political transformation of 1989 a vital part of Chancellery's task.
